2023 kicked off with rally driver and YouTuber Ken Block’s untimely death at age 55. The motorsport legend lost his life after a snowmobile accident in Utah where the vehicle was upended. Like many other names who knew him, Tommy Lee and Tom DeLonge also took their Instagram accounts to share their sadness over the news of their friend’s tragic passing.
“Ken.. you gave us all the greatest ride of our lives … may the universe give you the greatest ride in return! F*ck, you’re going to be missed, brother! RIP,” wrote Lee to share his sadness about the devastating news of Block’s death.
DeLonge also posted a message to share his feelings, “My heart is broken by the passing of my decades-long friend Ken Block. Here he is with me and David Kennedy at our last Angels & Airwaves show in Salt Lake City. He has an entire family that he has left behind that needs all the love and support we can send. He was a fantastic man tightly connected to so many of my closest friends, and it feels like an earthquake has just hit everyone’s heart. So sad, and we must send light and love to his children and wife, Lucy.”
The rally rider’s crushing death has left his friends and family all numb and trying to make sense of the situation. According to the local sheriff’s office’s statement on Facebook, the vehicle upended and tragically landed on him while Block was climbing a steep slope with a snowmobile in Wasatch County, Utah. Unfortunately, it seriously injured Ken and caused him to lose his life at the scene. RIP, Ken Block; you will be missed.
