The Edge’s daughter, Blue Angel Evans, opened up about the tragic story of her son, Senan, on a recent Instagram post after deciding to share the challenging period her family had been through with the public.
Evans and her husband, Fiachra O’Shaughnessy, welcomed their baby boy, Senan, eight months ago, and the young family of three, with daughter Luna, couldn’t possibly be happier with the new arrival. Blue recalled how her baby, by all means, seemed healthy and beautiful, though what the future held would quickly shadow the family’s joy.
Due to unforeseen newborn complications, Senan lost his life after spending nine days with his family, and as Evans didn’t wish to go through this tragic period under the curious eyes of the public, she decided to keep her son’s passing a secret. However, it seems that Blue is ready to share her story, so she opened up about the final moments of the baby to her followers.
She recalled how her family visited the LauraLynn Hospice after the baby spent eight nights at the hospital and laid Senan to rest there without any medical equipment that could unease the baby. The newborn passed away in peace while his mother held him firm in her arms, and Evans wanted to open up about the tragedy to spread awareness and thank the children’s hospice for their support and compassion.
Blue’s caption disclosed:
“On 28 July 2022, we welcomed our son, Senan O’Shaughnessy Evans, into the world. Senan sadly passed away after nine days with us due to an unforeseen complication around the time of his birth. He came two weeks early, and we discovered that there was a true knot in his cord. He suffered severe damage to his brain as a result which meant that he wasn’t strong enough to live on his own.
After eight nights in the NICU, we were brought to the LauraLynn Hospice for Children. Myself, Fiachra, Luna, and Senan got the incredible chance to be a family there… No wires, tubes, or alarms… Senan passed away peacefully that same night, lying on my chest- warm and loved beyond measure.”
She continued:
“Posting about Senan has been a big decision and one we haven’t taken lightly. But I have what feels like, a primal urge to tell the whole world how beautiful and amazing our son was. He was big and strong, weighing 8 pounds and measuring 20.5 inches long. He was absolutely perfect in every way, and all I want is for him to be back in my arms. He brought and continues to bring so much love into our lives that we will always miss him. Today is his eight-month anniversary.

When tragedy struck Evans and her family, the young mother decided not to share about her son’s passing as she wanted to be with her family during the challenging period. Her father, U2 icon the Edge, also seemed to respect his daughter’s wish and mourned quietly, not revealing anything about his grandson, Senan, and his tragic story to the media.
