The Most-Listened Rock And Metal Bands Of 2021, As Far As We Know From Spotify Posts

Each year, Spotify releases every artist’s total number of streams, hours listened, listeners, and the number of countries they are listened to. The ‘Spotify 2021 Wrapped’ unveils the top artists, albums, songs, podcasts, and more. It has 381 million subscribers worldwide, as the number increased following the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, which encouraged more people to listen to music.

Pop music dominated the lists, and most-streamed artists globally included musicians such as Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and BTS. However, we’re here to see the numbers of rock and metal music artists. Let’s take a look at these legendary rock and metal artists who shared their 2021 results on their social media accounts and find out which musician is the most streamed and which one is most listened to in 2021.

Maroon 5 Topped Every Other Band

It’s not surprising to see Maroon 5 at the top of the list as the band represents the pop-rock genre, which means they also attract fans from mainstream music. This year’s schedule was busy for the band as they released their seventh studio album, ‘Jordi’ on June 11, 2021, with hit singles such as ‘Memories,’ ‘Beautiful Mistakes,’ and ‘Lost.’

The band’s already existing fanbase reached a whole new level after releasing a successful album and touring extensively for the past year. As a result, Maroon 5 had 145.3 million listeners in 2021, as they shared via a post on their Instagram. In addition to their unbelievable listener number, the band had 2.8 billion streams from 178 countries this year.

System of A Down Had 35.5 Million Listeners

It has been quite a while since System of a Down released a studio album. However, the band released their first songs in 15 years named ‘Protect the Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ on November 5, 2020, in response to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.

Following the release, fans were expecting an announcement regarding a new album. However, the band is currently focused on what’s going on in Armenia in terms of their music and social media accounts rather than focusing on releasing new material solely for their music career.

Regardless of their distance from making music, their fans surprised everybody as the band had 35.5 million listeners in 2021 and 744.8 million streams. Their fans from 178 countries also spent a total of 38.1 million hours listening to their music which is quite interesting considering their lack of presence in the music industry.

24.6 Million Listened To Mötley Crüe

Following the announcement of this year’s numbers, the official Twitter account of Mötley Crüe shared their results of 2021 on Spotify. Apparently, they have one of the highest number of listeners of this year compared to other artists who shared their ‘Spotify 2021 Wrapped’ on their social media accounts.

According to their tweet, Mötley Crüe has 337.3 million streams and 24.6 million listeners from 178 countries, which adds up to 20.4 million hours. Since the band hasn’t released new material this year, it’s impressive to see that their loyal fans crowned them as one of the most-listened metal bands of 2021.

The List Continues With Mammoth WVH, Stone Sour, And More

Five Finger Death Punch has ranked high on the list of most-listened rock and metal artists among countless bands and musicians who shared their results all over social media. In fact, the band had a higher ranking than Mötley Crüe on the basis of streaming, with the number of 582 million.

Another celebrated band on the list is Corey Taylor’s band Stone Sour who had 14.8 million people listen to them in 2021. They also have 166.1 million streams from 175 countries, even though Taylor announced that the band went on indefinite hiatus on August 10, 2020, during an interview.

The Pretty Reckless also has an admirable ranking on the list thanks to their fourth studio album, ‘Death by Rock and Roll,’ which was released on February 12, 2021. The album received generally positive reviews from critics and was the highest-selling album in the country in its release week.

The rest of the list includes other bands, such as 311 with 10.8 million listeners, but the most impressive results came from Wolfgang Van Halen’s solo band Mammoth WVH. Although the band released its debut studio album on June 11, 2021, it had 2.1 million listeners in 2021 along with 12 million streams from 164 countries.

As for the rock and roll classics such as Alice Cooper, the Godfather of Shock Rock revealed his results on Twitter as well. The musician had 21.5 million listeners in the past year along with 130.8 million streams from 176 different countries.

Pantera also shared a post on their official Instagram account revealing that the number of their listeners is 14.4 million. Their streaming number is even higher as it’s 206.5 million with listeners from 177 countries.

Swedish band Opeth also shared their 2021 Spotify results with their fans. Apparently, their music reached 3.4 million fans who streamed their songs 54.1 million times from 164 countries.
