Ted Nugent recently made a public request to fellow rock musician Sammy Hagar for financial support of his children’s charity. He discussed this in a statement shared on Ted Nugent.
The statement highlighted Nugent’s fundraising efforts for his charity. It also covered his approach to seeking donations from friends in the music industry.
“I’ve never asked anybody ever,” Nugent said. “I’ve raised tens of millions of dollars by signing guns and bows and arrows and skulls and antlers and guitars. Literally, I think we’re over 30 million bucks that I have raised with my signature.”
Nugent went on to explain the success of his request. He also described the purpose of his charity work.
“So you know what I send out a request to my friends and Sammy Hagar cut a big check to the Ted Nugent Camp for Kids Charity,” he continued. “We teach them safe responsible firearms handling the discipline of the mystical flight of the arrow and how to catch fish and provide the ultimate diet of natural organic renewable wildlife for the children and their families.”
Nugent’s charitable efforts through his camp represent decades of commitment to youth outdoor education. The program has grown into a significant initiative across multiple states.
Ted Nugent’s official website revealed that the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids was founded in 1990. The camp now offers day-long outdoor sessions for children aged 8–15 in Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, and South Dakota. The camp’s curriculum includes archery, air guns, fishing, wildlife calling, outdoor survival, first aid, and lessons on ethics and wildlife respect. Nugent himself attends as many sessions as possible to deliver his message and provide campfire performances.
The nonprofit has reached significant milestones in recent years. It celebrated its 30th anniversary with testimonials from longtime participants. Deer and Deer Hunting reported that longtime attendee Tom O’Neil credited the camp for lifelong lessons and friendships. He stated his appreciation for the program’s lasting impact.
“The most important lesson from Kamp that has stuck with me to this day is learning to respect nature, the outdoors, animals and safety,” O’Neil explained in his testimonial about the program’s influence.
Ted Nugent’s store website confirmed that all donations to the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids go directly toward program costs. No administrative expenses are deducted, ensuring that every contribution supports children directly. This operational approach aligns with Nugent’s stated commitment to maximizing the impact of charitable contributions for the youth programs.
