Sting Says Ricky Martin Coached Him For His New Song

Sting was recently interviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine and talked about his latest Spanish single by explaining how he got prepared to perform the song. The famous musician revealed that his longtime friend and Puerto Rican singer, Ricky Martin had a great contribution to his performance.

Sting released his first EP entitled ‘Nada como el sol’ on February 16, 1988, and The Police frontman sang four tracks from his second studio album ‘…Nothing Like the Sun’ in Spanish and Portuguese. His performance was appreciated a lot especially by his Latin fans who defined it as extraordinary and remarkable. Even though some of them thought that it would be Sting’s last Spanish work, he continued to work on it years later with a very close friend.

Ricky Martin and Sting teamed up with each other for Martin’s first extended play ‘Pausa’ which was released on May 28, 2020, and they performed a track from the record, ‘Simple.’ The album received very positive reviews from the music critics and fans. Then, Sting went back to work on his latest album and dropped his fifteenth studio album ‘The Bridge’ after giving a break for a very long time on November 19, 2021.

After the album, Sting shared his latest song named ‘Por Su Amor’ on February 11, 2022, and his fans got very surprised about listening to the musician’s another Spanish song performance. During his interview, the singer stated that Ricky Martin coached him throughout the whole process of creating and recording the single to make him sound ‘convincing‘ although they were in different places. He drew attention to his love and respect for Martin and how much he enjoyed performing ‘Por Su Amor.’

Sting said in his interview that:

“I’ve known Ricky for a long time and I have a great deal of love and respect for him. He coached me on the internet, basically. I was in England and he was here. He coached me through the song so that I sounded convincing. That was very exciting and I loved the end result. It was fantastic.”
