Steel Panther Pays Tribute To Eddie Van Halen By Covering Songs From ‘Van Halen II’ Album

Steel Panther shared a post on its official Instagram page announcing that the band wanted to pay tribute to late guitarist Eddie Van Halen by releasing a cover version of Van Halen songs ‘Beautiful Girls,’ and ‘D.O.A.’ in addition to thanking Van Halen for their music which was inspirational for Steel Panther.

As many of you know, ‘Beautiful Girls‘ and ‘D.O.A.’ are the tracks from Van Halen’s second studio album, ‘Van Halen II’ which was released on March 23, 1979. The album reached number six on the Billboard 200 charts and has been sold about 5.7 million times in the United States.

Recently, the official Instagram page of Steel Panther shared a post revealing that the band has always kept a Van Halen song in their setlist whenever they performed due to the fact that the music of Van Halen had a major role in shaping the identity of Steel Panther.

In order to pay tribute to their inspiration and thank late Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen for his music, Steel Panther recorded a cover version of both ‘Beautiful Girls,’ and ‘D.O.A.’ and released the tracks on many music platforms such as Spotify, Tidal, and Deezer along with releasing music videos including band members on their official Youtube channel.

Here is what Steel Panther said:

“When we were playing weekly shows on the Sunset Strip, Van Halen music was essential to our setlists to keep the place rocking. The music of that band is what helped shape who Steel Panther is today. The loss of Eddie Van Halen has affected each of us in the band and these covers are our tribute to him to say thank you for the joy #VanHalen music has given us.
