When you think of Ozzy Osbourne, comparing him to Sam Smith probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, a recent TalkTV discussion stirred up some bizarre claims about the similarity between the pop star’s controversial performance and Ozzy’s bat-biting incident. Then, Sharon Osbourne reacted to that on Instagram and joked about the accusations of Ozzy starting the pandemic.

It all began when Piers Morgan shared his disapproval of Sam Smith’s live shows, describing them as narcissistic and self-indulgent. Then, comedian James Barr playfully brought up Morgan’s friendship with Ozzy Osbourne, reminding him of the bat-biting incident.

Morgan defended Osbourne, saying that his actions were nothing like Sam Smith’s performances and claimed that Ozzy has never done such a thing. Barr then jokingly suggested that Ozzy had started the pandemic, to which Morgan responded in disbelief, calling the claim ridiculous.

Never one to shy away from defending her family, Sharon Osbourne chimed in on Instagram. Posting the video clip of the TalkTV conversation, she humorously debunked the pandemic-starting claim, referencing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a source of accurate information.

About Sam Smith’s shows, Piers Morgan initially said:

“My point about Sam Smith’s show is just an orgy of, in my view, narcissistic, self-indulgent, deliberately shocking stuff. He looks terrible. Why would you do this?”

James Barr stepped in and said:

“You’re friends with Ozzy Osbourne, right? Ozzy Osbourne ate a bat’s head on stage. That could be considered vulgar.”

To which the host responded:

“Ozzy Osbourne never did anything like this.”

Barr continued:

“He started the COVID pandemic.”

Morgan said:

“You can’t seriously think this. You can’t seriously think what we’re looking at here [Sam Smith’s performance] is actually anything other than ridiculous.”

The comedian’s words in response were:

“No, I think it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Sharon Osbourne’s Instagram post read:

“Pretty sure this is not accurate information, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”

While the TalkTV discussion generated some entertaining banter, it’s crucial to remember that we shouldn’t take such claims too seriously. As for Ozzy’s alleged role in the pandemic, it seems that Sharon Osbourne’s witty response has put that wild rumor to rest.
