Sebastian Bach and Joel Hoekstra have responded to Dee Snider’s announcement about resigning from Twisted Sister due to health issues, as reported on Instagram.

Snider’s announcement revealed the physical toll that decades of intense performing have taken on his body and health.

“A lifetime of legendarily aggressive performing has taken its toll on Dee Snider’s body and soul. Unbeknownst to the public (until now) Snider (70) suffers from degenerative arthritis and has had several surgeries over the years just to keep going, able to only perform a few songs at a time in pain,” the statement read.

The announcement also disclosed additional health concerns that have influenced his decision.

“Adding insult to injury, Dee has recently found out the level of intensity he has dedicated to his life’s work has taken its toll on his heart as well. He can no longer push the boundaries of rock ‘n’ roll fury like he has done for decades,” it continued. “Says Snider, ‘I don’t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.’ In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, ‘A man’s got to know his limitations.’ Sadly, Dee Snider now knows his.”

Fellow musicians responded with support and admiration for Snider’s career and decision.

“We love you dude thank you for a lifetime of inspiration to us all. You left it all on the stage. The price we gotta pay for all the games we gotta play. Love you, brother,” Sebastian Bach commented.

Joel Hoekstra also expressed his respect, saying: “Love you, brother! So glad I got to share the stage with you!!! You’re one of the greatest frontmen to ever do it!! Much respect and admiration!”

This announcement effectively cancels Twisted Sister’s upcoming reunion shows due to Snider’s health struggles.

Snider’s departure marks the end of an era for the band he has fronted for nearly five decades. News Channel 9 reported that the Twisted Sister singer has walked away from the group he’s fronted since 1976 due to a health condition that has left him in constant pain.

The timing of Snider’s resignation is particularly significant as it comes during what was meant to be a celebratory year for the band. Noise11 confirmed that Twisted Sister have cancelled all 50th anniversary shows after Dee Snider stepped away due to serious health issues, placing the band’s future in doubt.

The cancelled tour was set to commemorate the band’s remarkable journey in rock music. AOL noted that Twisted Sister first formed in the early 1970s. Snider joined in 1976, bringing his talents as a vocalist and songwriter.

The health-related departure has forced the cancellation of highly anticipated international dates. Los Angeles Times detailed that after Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider resigns over ‘a series of health challenges,’ the band cancels all of its planned 50th anniversary concerts. These included dates starting April 25 in São Paulo, Brazil.
