Scott Ian has confirmed that Anthrax’s new album is complete and they have already shot their first music video. The announcement came through a recent statement shared on Instagram.
Ian’s Instagram post expressed gratitude to fans and crew members who participated in the video shoot despite challenging weather conditions.
“Album is done. First video is shot. Thank you all for braving the cold with us to make something killer! A great day for all of us!” Ian said. “So much more Anthrax coming in 2026! Until then have a great holiday!”
Charlie Benante also shared details about the video production in a separate post. He revealed additional information about the new material.
“We shot a video yesterday for a new song ‘it’s *** *** ****’, it’s a bit of a throw back to another video. I couldn’t help but have a little fun with some friends who showed up,” Benante said. “I want to thank them for being there and being a part of a very long and cold day.”
This announcement marks a significant milestone for the thrash metal veterans. They have been working on their highly anticipated follow-up album.
BraveWords reported that the upcoming release will be Anthrax’s first full-length album since For All Kings in 2016. Bassist Frank Bello previously indicated that fans can expect the new material in early 2026. This marks nearly a decade between studio albums for the legendary band.
The timeline for the album’s release appears to have shifted from earlier projections. XS Rock had previously reported that the new Anthrax album was slated for a September or October 2025 release date. The band’s recent statements suggest the material will now arrive in 2026 instead.
Metal Injection noted that the band had been actively working on recording their first new album since 2016. The mixing process was recently completed. The publication noted that the upcoming release has been described as “a very New York album.” This suggests the band has returned to their roots for this latest effort.
The band has indicated that fans can expect more Anthrax content throughout 2026. This builds anticipation for what will be one of the most significant thrash metal releases of the year. With the album completed and the first music video already in production, Anthrax appears ready to make their long-awaited return to the metal scene.
