Sam Kiszka Discusses The Emotional Effect Of Josh Kiszka’s Coming Out

In his recent interview with Kyle Meredith, Sam Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet talked about their upcoming album ‘Starcatcher’ and discussed how his brother Josh’s decision to become more ‘personal’ affected his poetic skills, possibly referring to the singer’s recent coming out.

In the interview, Sam shared his feelings about Josh’s contributions to their upcoming album ‘Starcatcher,’ and commented how the frontman got ‘more personal’ with his lyrics:

“There were some more personal things that Josh kind of started writing about on this album, which I think is really interesting; because not only do I think he’s at his literary peak as a lyricist and as a writer, but also he’s taking some different perspectives, and he’s taking some of his own [perspectives] and they’re unique.”

The guitarist also explained his views on how it felt to be a musician and making an album as a popular band:

“There are very few people in the world who kind of are in the same position as we are, and we have the opportunity to talk about our own discoveries and talk about our own adventures while applying it to a much wider scale. So I think some of the lyrics are really next level on this album.”

The ‘personal things’ Sam mentioned could be referring to Josh’s recent coming out on Instagram. In the post, Kiszka explained that after the anti-LGBTQ bill proposals in his hometown Tennessee, he decided to publicly disclose his sexual identity with the following words:

“These issues are especially close to my heart as I’ve been in a loving, same-sex relationship with my partner for the past 8 years. Those close to me are well aware, but it’s important to me to share publicly.”

‘Starcatcher’ is expected to be out on July 21.
