Roger Waters’ Pink Floyd Project Receives Mixed Reviews, ‘Your Solo Stuff Doesn’t Sell’

Roger Waters recently took to Twitter to share a teaser of his upcoming new version of the Pink Floyd classic, ‘The Dark Side of the Moon,’ getting mixed reactions from the band’s fans.

One of the comments expressed:

“In other words… Help, I need money, and my solo stuff doesn’t sell.”

Another user wrote, again taking a negative stance:

“No thanks. The original was perfect.”

Still, some Pink Floyd fans are excited to hear a fresh rendition of the record, as one said:

“All change is good, and even better if it comes from the person who devised, created, composed, recorded, assembled, mixed, edited, and approved the concept of one of the most iconic albums in rock history…”

Waters’ new recording of ‘DSOTM’ has been in the works for a few years, as the musician decided to remake it during the process of his Lockdown Sessions. Regarding the album, Roger said earlier this year that he wanted to pay tribute to its legacy rather than replace it, explaining:

“It occurred to me that ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ could well be a suitable candidate for a similar re-working, partly as a tribute to the original work but also to re-address the political and emotional message of the whole album.”

He continued:

“We are now in the process of finishing the final mix. It’s turned out great, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it. It’s not a replacement for the original, which, obviously, is irreplaceable.”

Nick Mason also shared his thoughts on Waters’ re-recording of the classical album in May. The drummer said that Roger sent him a copy of his work, and upon listening to it, Nick found it really impressive. He defined it as an interesting addition to the existing work rather than spoiling the original.
