Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Displays His Guitar Skills During Eddie Vedder Show
During a recent show on Eddie Vedder’s ‘Earthling’ tour, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith switched instruments with his former bandmate Josh Klinghoffer and surprised the audience with his unexpected guitar performance.
Eddie Vedder has been continuing his solo tour in support of his latest solo album, ‘Earthling.’ During the tour, he has also been accompanied by some notable musicians like Chad Smith, Josh Klinghoffer, Andrew Watt, Chris Chaney, and Glen Hansard. While most of the setlist consists of new material from Vedder’s solo album, they have also been performing a wealth of classic covers and some Pearl Jam classics.
Pearl Jam’s frontman will end his solo tour with his last show on February 27, 2022. During his performance at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on February 22, the audience witnessed something astonishing when the drummer Chad Smith took over Klinghoffer’s guitar and started to play towards the end of their cover of Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ In The Free World.’
Besides his competent guitar skills, the drummer also attracted attention with his excellent stage moves. His energetic presence on the stage reminded some of AC/DC’s Angus Young, renowned for his tireless live performances. Chad Smith is accepted among the most talented drummers, but it looks like he would also prove himself as a successful guitarist when given a chance.
