Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Confirms That They Have Lots Of New Music To Release
Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith joined an interview with SiriusXM’s Pop Rocks and talked about the upcoming RHCP album as well as reuniting with the band’s former guitarist John Frusciante, and confirmed that they have a lot of new songs to release.
As many of you know that Red hot Chili Peppers, formed in 1983 by Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons, is a rock-metal band. During the first years of the band, members were coming and going and they did not have a fixed line-up.
In 1988, the guitarist Hillel Slovak died of a drug overdose, which drew the band to the verge of falling apart as the drummer Irons quit the band. After a while with the help of Flea, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith joined the band. With the new line-up, the band released ‘Mother’s Milk,’ which was their first commercial success. Years later, Frusciante fell into heroin addiction and quit the band.
In the interview with SiriusXM, Smith confirmed that Frusciante’s return to the band and working with him again has been exciting and fun, adding that it was like he never left. He also added that, as a band, they have been taking their time and that they have a lot of new music to release. Smith also said that the band is looking forward to meeting with the fans face to face again.
Here is what he said about their new music and album during the interview:
“There’s been no hurry, with what’s happened over the last year or so. So we’ve been kind of taking our time, and we have lots of new music, and we’re very excited about it, and when it’s done, it’s done, and we’ll put it out, and we’ll go play some concerts next year. We look forward to being in front of people again like everybody wants to be so badly, us included.
Not only having new music to play, but also we just wanna play live. And that’s such an important part of life’s experiences and certainly of being a band. It’s really important to us. We were gonna play last summer. But we want it to be safe for everyone and a really good experience for everyone, so we pushed everything off, but we’re coming back, and it’s gonna be great.”
