Oasis’ Noel Gallagher Says He Forgets The Lyrics And Make Shit Up During Live Shows
In a recent interview with The Sun, Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher talked about how he feels when performing in front of thousands of people.
In the conversation, Noel admitted that he often forgets the lyrics of their famous songs, such as ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger,’ and said he sometimes tries hard to recall the first line of the songs right before he starts singing. Furthermore, the frontman mentioned that it feels like his brain freezes because he gets too excited.
Therefore, he sometimes makes up the lyrics during the shows. As Gallagher said, even the Oasis members ask him if he is singing the correct lyrics, and he tells them he is probably not. In this way, the experienced musician showed how he still struggles while performing, which also shows his excitement and passion for the music.
Noel Gallagher revealed what’s happening to him during the shows in the interview:
“Brain freeze, I get it. I get them when I’m doing gigs to 70,000 people. As the next line is coming I think, ‘Seriously, what is the next line to this song?’ You’re thinking, ‘I genuinely don’t know what it is’.
Somehow it falls out of the sky. But sometimes I just have to make s*** up. My band will say, ‘Are they the right lyrics?’ And I go, ‘I don’t think so.’ I’ve played ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ a billion times, and sometimes I think, ‘What is the first line?’”
Later in the conversation, Noel also talked about his upcoming cover project featuring the songs that have influenced his career and stated that it is not that different from what everybody does with Bob Dylan covers.
