One expects a rock icon to have a favorites list containing other rock artists in the scene. However, this isn’t always true, as music tastes differ. Surprisingly, Liam Gallagher has a boy band among his favorites. As Blue’s Duncan James revealed to NME, it surprised him that Liam loved their music.

Blue is a 2000s boy band representing the UK at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with their song ‘I Can.’ Their debut album was a tremendous success as the singles spawned from the record topped the charts. As it appears, Oasis’ Liam Gallagher was a member of the Blue fanbase, and he enjoyed listening to their songs.

In previous statements, Liam listed the Stone Roses, the Beatles, the Smiths, the La’s, Happy Mondays, the Doors, and Blur among his favorite bands. However, one doesn’t really expect Liam to like Blue — even Duncan James, one of the band’s vocals, was shocked to hear that.

When NME asked him about the most unexpected person who turned out to be a Blue fan, James said, “Liam Gallagher. I’ve met him a few times, and he’s always been lovely about Blue. He said we’re all grafters and loved our music, which surprised me because I did not expect him to like us.”

So, Duncan James didn’t anticipate Liam Gallagher to like Blue but later discovered that he was a fan of their music. According to the interview, his bandmate Simon Webbe was also surprised when he learned the Brazilian footballer Robinho and Dave Grohl appreciated their musicianship.
