Nikki Sixx Warns About The Unauthorized Mötley Crüe Show

Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx recently shared his opinions on a new project about the band and himself on Instagram. The musician wanted to highlight that this show didn’t have any connection with them, but it misleads the fans.

A short time ago, the award-winning writer and director David Lucarelli announced his latest work entitled ‘The Crüe: Underneath The Dirt Lies The Truth.’ As it can be understood from the name, it reflects the story of Mötley Crüe, mainly focusing on Sixx’s life as the band’s mastermind. The cast included Ryan Ruffing, Phillip-Charlie Daniell, Jeff Skomsky, Roman Guastaferro, Ed Gage, Madison Hansen, David Guenaga, and Tamara Torres.

The play will debut on June 4 at the Hollywood Fringe Festival at The Flight Theater, but the poster drew significant attention from the fans, especially the bassist’s image. Even though the writer emphasized that it’s a completely unauthorized play about the world’s most notorious rock band, the play’s name and poster don’t say so. Following fans’ questions about the upcoming show, Sixx decided to talk about it.

In his recent post, Sixx stated that he was disappointed about the play’s advertisement by using his photo and trademark, which he defined as tricking the fans. The fans could think that the band members are part of this process from that poster, but they never did. Neither he nor the other Mötley Crüe icons are involved in the play, and the bassist reminded everyone that Lucarelli didn’t approach them to discuss the unauthorized work.

Sixx’s IG post read:

“Fans of Motley Crue have asked about a new play by David Lucarelli called ‘The Crue: Underneath the Dirt Lies the Truth. I was disappointed to see an advertisement using my image and our band’s trademark ‘The Crue’ to promote this play.

The advertising is misleading because it suggests that the other members of the band and I are somehow involved with the play. We have never been approached about this play. Mötley Crüe has no connection or affiliation with his play whatsoever.
