Nikki Sixx Details Mötley Crüe’s Studio Process Without Mick Mars

4 Min Read

In a recent Instagram post, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx provided fans with an exciting glimpse into the band’s creative process as they work on their new record. The post came in the wake of the band’s decision to move forward without longtime guitarist Mick Mars, who has been involved in a legal dispute with them. As fans eagerly await the new music, Sixx’s post provided a rare insight into the inner workings of Mötley Crüe during this new era.

Back in 2022, the guitarist announced his departure from touring with Mötley Crüe due to health reasons but was expected to continue contributing to the band’s studio recordings. However, he filed a lawsuit against the band members shortly thereafter, causing a significant shift in their dynamic. As new developments and claims kept occurring, the legal battle led to the band’s decision to work on a new studio project without Mars.

Nikki Sixx first hinted at the new project in an Instagram post in early April, where he mentioned that the remaining members of Mötley Crüe were in the studio working on some exciting new material. Fans were left in suspense until he recently shared another post with more revealing content, including a black and white photograph of himself writing a song and an extensive caption detailing their songwriting and recording process.

In the caption, the bassist provided a candid look into the band’s work on the new record, saying:

“I’m sure you all know how important lyrics are to me. This new set feels more personal since we haven’t recorded anything new in a while. The studio is a highly creative space, and with us recording, I thought I’d try to get a creative head start on some of these for Vince [Neil].

I got one done and going to try to wrap up the next one and show it to the guys. Bob Rock is pushing us hard and bringing out the best in us. Tommy [Lee] is playing his ass off. Jesus, these drums sound huge. I will probably lay down my final bass tracks in the next few days. John [5] is so fast I’m sure he will get all the songs done in just a few days. But then again, Bob Rock loves those huge walls of guitars, so it could take a moment.

Going to take a break from recording to fly to Kansas to rehearse and then play the NFL draft show, and then back to finish it all off. (Excited about the show ) – When will it come out? Not sure. We haven’t thought that far down the line. Just letting the music guide us.

P. S: We had a special visitor today.”

With the new Mötley Crüe project well underway, fans are undoubtedly excited to hear the music that emerges from this latest chapter in the band’s storied history. Although the absence of Mars marks a significant change in the group’s dynamic, Nikki’s Instagram post assures fans that the creative spirit of Mötley Crüe is alive and well and that the remaining members are fully committed to carrying the band’s legacy forward.
