Nikki Sixx And Tommy Lee On What Taylor Hawkins’ Passing Has Taught Them

Nikki Sixx recently shared a video of a throwback performance on Instagram featuring the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. The post’s caption included a bittersweet comment by Sixx, but Tommy Lee chose to cherish his friend’s memory with an amusing observation.

The video shared by Mötley Crüe’s bassist captured Taylor Hawkins’ enthusiastic drumming during a Chevy Metal concert in 2018 alongside Nikki. Sixx admitted that seeing the video ‘stopped him in his tracks’ and reminded him of the importance of enjoying life while there is a chance.

While Nikki reminisced about his late friend and expressed how challenging it has been to accept his passing, Lee took a more lighthearted approach. Tommy observed that Taylor had performed the fastest way of the band’s hit, ‘Looks That Kill,’ and even said that he seems a ‘bit too excited.’

Sixx’s message read:

“You know when something pops up on your phone and stops you in your tracks? This happened this morning. Still seems impossible that we lost Taylor. But it warms [my] heart knowing that we had a lot of fun this day. It really is important to live in the moment because we don’t know when this all might end. God bless…”

While Mötley Crüe drummer’s remark went as follows:

“Hahahaha! That might be the fastest whitest version of ‘Looks That Kill’ that I’ve ever heard. Taylor was a bit too excited.”

The Foo Fighters drummer passed away as a result of a heart attack in 2022 at the age of 50. The Mötley Crüe members shared their respect and love for the late musician by attending the final tribute show held in his name in Los Angeles in 2022. Their performances were unfortunately not broadcasted like the concerts in Wembley, but it probably helped the rockers bid farewell to their friend.
