Neal Schon has addressed speculation about Journey’s future, stating that the band is not finished despite uncertainty among fans about whether the group will disband, he said in a post on X.
Schon’s message comes as questions swirl around the band’s status. He spoke directly to Journey’s longevity and his commitment to the group, while also acknowledging that membership changes may occur.
“I’ve been here since Journey began in mid-1972,” Schon said. “Fifty-three years later, I love this band and all the music we’ve created together.”
He went on to recognize the contributions of past and present members. “Many have come and gone over the years, and I’m grateful for what each of them brought to the music. One thing I know for certain: it’s not over.”
Schon also reflected on what the band’s name means to him personally. “The name Journey says it all to me. There’s movement in that word. After all these years, I still want to see where the music takes us next.”
Schon’s comments came as fans continue to wonder about Journey’s future direction. His statement makes clear that while the band’s lineup may shift, the project itself will continue.
Schon’s reassurance about the band’s future comes after a period of significant tension within Journey. In July 2024, keyboardist Jonathan Cain filed a lawsuit against Schon alleging misuse of the band’s funds. Cain and Schon each own 50 percent of the touring company, and Cain claimed that Schon was spending up to $10,000 a night on hotels while touring and using company money for private jets. The dispute led to the cancellation of tour dates in the UK and Ireland before the legal battle was resolved through the appointment of a neutral third party to break the deadlock.
Journey’s Final Frontier Tour began in February 2026 and is scheduled to end on November 28, 2026, in San Francisco. After completing 110 shows in 2026, the band reported feeling something powerful happen within Journey. The extended tour and the resolution of the legal dispute appeared to have brought the band members closer together. In October 2025, Cain had announced he would leave the band after the tour, but his most recent comments suggest that decision may be subject to change.
With the tour nearing its end, Schon’s statement that Journey will continue suggests the band intends to move beyond the Final Frontier Tour. While membership changes may occur in the future, Schon’s commitment to the project and his openness to where the music takes the band next indicates that Journey’s story is far from over.
