Nandi Bushell has shared another drumming video on social media. This time, the 14-year-old drummer covered Slipknot’s ‘Before I Forget.’
Current Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande saw the video and commented, “You’re amazing, Nandi!” The drummer’s bandmate Tortilla Man added in another comment, “Yes yes yes yes.”
Bushell shared Casagrande’s response in an Instagram story, tagged the drummer, and wrote, “You are amazing!”
In addition to the Slipknot members, System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian also commented. The rocker commented with three devil horn emojis.
Bushell has received praise from different rockers over time for her drumming skills. Rush’s Alex Lifeson once praised the drummer for paying tribute to the late Rush drummer Neil Peart. Bushell played the track Peart considered really difficult to play— ‘Tom Sawyer.’
“This one is for you, Professor. I wanted to try a Rush song that would really challenge me. I watched an interview where Neil Peart said ‘Tom Sawyer’ ‘remains so difficult to play.’ So I thought I would give it a try. It’s actually really fun to play,” the drummer wrote.
Lifeson responded to her video with, “Oh, Nandi Bushell, you brought a tear to my eye with this tribute! ‘Tom Sawyer’ is a difficult song to play drums to, and you made it so much fun. Neil would have loved your performance and wonderful smile, as both Geddy and I do!”
Bushell first went viral in November 2019 with her drum cover of Nirvana’s ‘In Bloom.’ She also took part in a drum challenge with Dave Grohl. Bushell has received praise from bands like Queens Of The Stone Age and Royal Blood, and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello even gifted her a guitar after her cover of ‘Guerilla Radio.’
