Murderdolls vocalist Wednesday 13 and the family of late guitarist Joey Jordison have announced the band’s first live performance in nine years, posted on Instagram.
The announcement confirms that Murderdolls will perform at Graspop Metal Meeting 2027. Jordison, a guitarist for the band, was also a former drummer for Slipknot.
The family of Joey Jordison wrote on social media: “We’re excited to announce that Murderdolls have officially joined the lineup for Graspop Metal Meeting 2027.”
Wednesday 13 also wrote: “MURDERDOLLS… coming 2027.”
The announcement marks the return of Murderdolls to the stage after nine years away.
Murderdolls formed as a side project while Jordison was drumming for Slipknot. After touring their first album, the band went on hiatus so Jordison could focus on his main band. They played their last show on January 17, 2004, before reuniting nearly six years later. A second record, Women And Children Last, followed in 2010, made by Wednesday 13 and Jordison as a duo. The last time the Murderdolls performed together was April 24, 2011.
Joey Jordison died in July 2021 at the age of 46. Wednesday 13 spoke fondly of their second album Women And Children Last, stating the pair had been talking about doing Murderdolls again. A month before he died, Jordison texted Wednesday 13 out of the blue while watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The last time Murderdolls songs were played live under the band’s name was in 2018, when Wednesday 13, Slade and Griffin got together at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood for a show honoring drummer Ben “The Ghoul” Graves, who died that year.
Any return of Murderdolls without Jordison becomes a tribute as much as a reunion. Graspop Metal Meeting is preparing to celebrate its 30th edition in 2027. The festival takes place from Thursday 17 June to Sunday 20 June 2027 in Dessel, Belgium.
