Mötley Crüe Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary, Here’s What Tommy Lee, Vince Neil, And Nikki Sixx Say About It

Three out of four Mötley Crüe members, drummer Tommy Lee, lead vocalist Vince Neil, and bassist Nikki Sixx shared posts on their official Instagram page in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band, opening up about being together for four decades.

As you already know, Mötley Crüe was founded back in 1981 in Los Angeles by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead guitarist Mick Mars, and lead singer Vince Neil. The band sold over 100 million albums worldwide and they have also achieved seven platinum or multi-platinum certifications.

Throughout Mötley Crüe’s career, the band experienced several short term lineup changes like the introduction of vocalist John Corabi who was Neil’s replacement from 1992 to 1996, and drummers Randy Castillo and Samantha Maloney, both of whom filled in for Lee after following his departure from the band in 1999 until his return in 2004.

Apart from these few lineup changes, the original members remained the same still to this day and the band has been together for four decades now. In order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Mötley Crüe, band members shared posts on their official Instagram pages.

The first celebration came from Nikki Sixx as he shared an old picture of the band on Instagram and expressed his gratitude for having his bandmates throughout his journey which included traveling the whole world and making spectacular shows. Sixx celebrated his bandmates’ ‘birthday’ as he referred to them as brothers in addition to celebrating their fans’.

Here is what Sixx said:

“40 years ago today in 1981 we started Mötley Crüe outta Hollywood California. I am beyond grateful to of done this journey with my brothers Vince Neil, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee. The places we’ve traveled to around the world together, the songs we’ve written, the ÖVER the top live shows, and of course 4 generations of fans. Wherever I may be in the world when a possible non-rock fan asks me ‘Are you in a band?’ and I tell them MÖTLEY CRÜE they always light up and say ‘Oh, I know your music.’ Beyond everything else, those words mean the most. The SONGS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my brothers and to all the fans. And to so many many people along the way that kept this old warhorse rocking. MORE TO COME………”

Vince Neil also shared a post on his official Instagram page celebrating 40 years Mötley Crüe had together, in addition to also wishing a happy birthday to his brothers just like Nikki Sixx. Neil also revealed his appreciation for the memories he had with the band which, obviously, expands in four decades, ultimately in a lifetime.

Here is what Neil said:

Happy Birthday to my brothers! 40 years!! A lifetime of memories!!”

Last, Tommy Lee shared the same picture as Vince Neil on his official Instagram page and stressed the same fact as his other bandmates, the 40-years-old journey with its ups and downs just like a rollercoaster, according to Lee. He also made a humorous joke about how the band members touched people’s hearts all around the world in addition to other body parts.

Here is what Lee said:

Happy 40th my dudes…. what a fucking ride hey!?! Like a rollercoaster, we have been up down and all around this damn world touching hearts and many other body parts hahaha of people all around the globe! Cheers to touching more!!!!”

While the rest of the band shared a post on their official social media accounts around the same time, lead guitarist Mick Mars remained silent on his Instagram page which kept his fans waiting for a post to come. While fans are patient, they all are curious to see a celebration from Neil.
