Local news station WDBJ7 reported how a Virginia family’s early bedtime decision for a Metallica concert saved them from a potentially fatal truck crash.
David and Kristin McKee of Goodview, Virginia, deviated from their usual late-night TV watching routine. They went to bed early to prepare for taking their 14-year-old daughter to a Metallica concert. This decision saved their lives when a pickup truck crashed into their home’s front section around 2 AM. The family was safely asleep in their bedroom at the time.
Kristin McKee shared the terrifying incident with WDBJ7.
“[I asked David,] ‘Do you wanna sit up?’ And he was like, ‘Nah, I think I just wanna go on to bed.’ I said, ‘I’ll go on to bed too.’ Then, just a few hours later, we heard a loud explosion, glass shattered. It was just madness from that point on,” she explained.
McKee reflected on their fortunate escape: “We were so fortunate that, that night, my daughter could have walked down that hallway and found us in the rubble. I thank God every day, and Metallica, for saving us.”
The incident prevented the family from attending their planned concert. However, it demonstrated how a simple schedule change could alter the course of their lives.
