For rock, metal and alternative music, The Grammy’s have a diverse list of nominees. Here are the nominees for best songs, albums and acts.

Best Rock Album

It might come as a shock to see Metallica in the rock section at first, but seeing them competing with Foo Fighters might be an even bigger shock. The rest of the nominees are as follows:

Foo Fighters – ‘But Here We Are’
Greta Van Fleet – ‘Starcatcher’
Metallica – ’72 Seasons’
Paramore – ‘This Is Why’
Queens Of The Stone Age – ‘In Times New Roman…’

Best Rock Performance

Including a variety of rock artists and bands, this one will be a hard one to pick from when it comes to live performances.

Arctic Monkeys – ‘Sculptures Of Anything Goes’
Black Pumas – ‘More Than A Love Song’
Boygenius – ‘Not Strong Enough’
Foo Fighters – ‘Rescued’
Metallica – ‘Lux Aeterna’

Best Rock Song

With Rolling Stones’ first since 2005 and Foo Fighters’ first since the passing away of Taylor Hawkins, this one offers a variety of different types of rock musicians rather than just classic rock.

Boygenius – ‘Not Strong Enough’
Foo Fighters – ‘Rescued’
Olivia Rodrigo – ‘Ballad Of A Homeschooled Girl’
Queens Of The Stone Age – ‘Emotion Sickness’
The Rolling Stones – ‘Angry’

Best Metal Performance

Announcing a support tour for their new albums, these nominees gave some Grammy-worthy performances. Just like the usual names we are now accustomed to seeing, some new faces are getting nominated for Grammys for the first time as well.

Disturbed – ‘Bad Man’
Ghost – ‘Phantom Of The Opera’
Metallica – ’72 Seasons’
Slipknot – ‘Hive Mind’
Spiritbox – ‘Jaded’

Best Alternative Music Album

Back to the albums. While the term ‘alternative’ carries several different meanings when it comes to music, Grammy had to choose only five among all of these alternative artists. Here are the five nominees:

Arctic Monkeys – ‘The Car’
Boygenius – ‘The Record’
Lana Del Rey – ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’
Gorillaz – ‘Cracker Island’
PJ Harvey – ‘I Inside The Old Year Dying’

Best Alternative Music Performance

While three of the artists have already been nominated for the best alternative music album, the two new artists are definitely worth checking out. Just like their newly released albums, the live performances are sure have been just as good.

Alvvays – ‘Belinda Says’
Arctic Monkeys – ‘Body Paint’
Boygenius – ‘Cool About It’
Lana Del Rey – ‘A&W’
Paramore – ‘This Is Why’
