Megadeth’s new guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari revealed the band’s upcoming album plans in a recent interview with D’Addario and Co.
“After this tour, we’re gonna take a little break,” Mäntysaari said. “We’ve been planning on making a new Megadeth album.”
The guitarist revealed that all band members are contributing ideas, marking a shift from Megadeth’s traditionally Mustaine-dominated songwriting process.
“That’s gonna be really exciting,” he continued. “I’ve been gathering some riff ideas, and we’ve been talking with the band that everybody could contribute ideas. So that’s gonna be really interesting. I’m looking forward to recording the album next year.”
Mäntysaari joined Megadeth as their new guitarist after Kiko Loureiro’s departure in September 2023.
The band has embraced a collaborative approach to songwriting. All members are actively participating in the composition process.
Digital Music News revealed the band’s choice of Nashville as their recording location. The completion of their 17th studio album is targeted for next year.
MetalSucks highlighted bassist James LoMenzo’s return. This marks his first recording with the band since their 2009 release ‘Endgame.’
The band members are currently collecting individual riff ideas. These will be combined to create new material instead of bringing completed songs to the studio.
