Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale recently opened up about her experience touring with Skid Row. She shared humorous insights about the band dynamics in an interview with Louder Sound.
Hale reflected on her time filling in as vocalist for four shows after Erik Grönwall’s departure from the band. Her comments revealed the playful atmosphere that developed during their time together on tour.
“I got to know Rachel [Bolan] and Snake [Sabo] as people first before we ended up gigging together,” Hale said.
She went on to describe the band’s sense of humor during their travels.
“The thing that I discovered was when we were on the bus together, it doesn’t matter how old you are on the outside,” she continued. “On the inside, including myself, we are all fifteen-year-old boys. The fart jokes were rampant.”
Hale also shared specific examples of the band’s comedic interactions during the tour.
“We were making all these Spinal Tap jokes about the meat in catering,” she said. “They’re like, the meat is so sweaty. I don’t know why it was so funny, but this sweaty meat came up a lot, and then that ends up being a dirtier and dirtier joke. I’m so grateful for them accepting me into their camp and for allowing me to be a part of that.”
This collaboration represents more than just a temporary arrangement. It has evolved into an ongoing partnership that continues to benefit both parties.
Louder Sound reported that Skid Row has scheduled several shows featuring Lzzy Hale as the lead vocalist. Dates were announced in places such as Carterville, IL, Riverside, IA, Sparks, NV, and Sacramento, CA, continuing into mid-2024. The extended partnership reflects the strong chemistry that developed between Hale and the veteran rock band members.
The timing of Hale’s involvement came during a period of significant adjustment for Skid Row. Instagram posts revealed that the band had to reschedule the third leg of their U.S. and Canada tour from October 2023 to March 2024 to accommodate lineup changes and ensure a successful run. This rescheduling allowed the band to properly integrate Hale into their touring plans.
The collaboration has proven successful enough that both parties have expressed interest in continuing their working relationship. Ticketmaster listings confirmed multiple tour dates with Hale as the featured vocalist. This demonstrates the commercial viability of this partnership.
Hale’s involvement has added a fresh dynamic to Skid Row’s live performances while preserving the band’s signature energy and spirit amid lineup changes. The arrangement has allowed the band to maintain their touring schedule. It has also provided Hale with an opportunity to showcase her versatility beyond her work with Halestorm.
