Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael and comedian Craig Gass recently addressed a disturbing incident involving a KISS fan on the Beardo And Weirdo Podcast. The fan had attempted to crash the private funeral of legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley, prompting both personalities to condemn the behavior.
Kael expressed his frustration with the fan’s actions. He emphasized the disrespect shown to Frehley and his grieving family during an extremely difficult time.
“Ace. That’s who I’m pissed off. Not the real Ace Frehley. Pseudo fan page. Fan page Ace. My God, that was incredibly disturbing,” Kael said. “As an artist, I’m nowhere near the level of fame and success of Ace Frehley, but we do have fans. Thank God our fans are respectful. Because oh my God, that’s just a whole another level. I mean, that disturbed me so much.”
Kael further criticized the fan for failing to show basic respect to Frehley’s family during their time of grief.
“And then the fact going to the funeral, his family has given up their life to let essentially Ace do what he does. They have missed out on so much. And now in that time and need, he shows up at the darkest point in their life since they’ve been with Ace. And they can’t even that dude, Ace, not fans. Ace can’t even give him and his family that amount of respect. Absolutely disturbing. It’s mental illness,” Kael continued.
Comedian Craig Gass added his perspective. He revealed that the fan had sent him a video documenting his actions on private property, which included trespassing and discussing stealing materials.
“And I cannot believe you sent me a video where you say repeatedly, ‘Yeah, I am trespassing right now and I was chased by dogs here and should we steal some bricks from this property?’ Like I don’t know what is going on in your mind when where you send me this video as an explanation as to what kind of content you need to create, but going on to people’s private property. I just you’re documenting a crime. This is how people get arrested,” Gass said.
The incident highlights the serious consequences of obsessive fan behavior. It underscores the importance of respecting boundaries during times of personal tragedy. This incident comes in the wake of Ace Frehley’s recent passing, which deeply affected the rock community and his devoted fanbase worldwide.
Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of the rock band KISS, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 74, according to the Los Angeles Times. His death was ruled an accident caused by blunt trauma injuries sustained in a fall at his home. These injuries included a brain bleed and skull fractures. Frehley had been hospitalized after an initial fall in his studio in late September 2025. He then suffered a more severe fall down a flight of stairs on October 2. He was placed on life support but did not recover, and life support was withdrawn after his condition failed to improve.
The loss of the iconic “Spaceman” reverberated throughout the music world. Per Wikipedia, Frehley’s former KISS bandmates paid tribute to his immense contributions to rock music. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons called him an “essential and irreplaceable rock soldier.” Peter Criss said Ace “influenced and touched the hearts of millions of people.” His family released a statement expressing their grief and celebrating his life. They wrote, “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.” They described his passing as “of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension.”
Frehley’s contributions to KISS’s iconic sound and image cannot be overstated. As the band’s lead guitarist from their formation in 1973, he helped define the theatrical rock aesthetic that made KISS one of the most recognizable bands in music history. His innovative guitar work and distinctive persona as the “Spaceman” became synonymous with the band’s identity during their most influential years.
The incident involving the fan attempting to crash Frehley’s funeral underscores the intensity of devotion some fans feel toward rock legends. Even in moments when respect and dignity should take precedence, this behavior serves as a stark reminder of the importance of honoring boundaries and showing compassion to grieving families during their darkest hours. As the rock community continues to mourn the loss of one of its most influential figures, the actions of this individual highlight the need for greater awareness and empathy.
