Nathan Followill recently disclosed in a series of tweets that he feared for his son Oliver’s life after a tragic school shooting near the young boy’s school.
The drummer was quite worried as he shared that his six-year-old son’s life could be in danger after learning that a school shooter targeted an elementary school in the area. He further continued by condemning the NRA and pro-gun advocates, whom he held responsible for the tragedy.
Followill’s son luckily was unharmed and safe, but three other children and three adults at the Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in Tennessee, weren’t as lucky as the young boy. The assailant reportedly killed six people and injured others before the officers arrived and took him down.
The tragedy took its place among numerous others, so Nathan felt the need to call out the pro-gun advocates who were praying at their homes while cleaning their assault rifles. The rocker also stated that he didn’t like being political on Twitter, but the tragedy personally affected him as he was deeply worried about his son and the other kids who witnessed the tragedy.
Nathan’s tweets on the recent shooting at the Covenant School and gun control:
“A school shooting just happened near my son’s school. Multiple children dead, but let’s make sure that the gunman had his 2nd Amendment rights. F*ck you, Bill Lee, and f*ck the NRA.
Sending my kids to school shouldn’t feel like sending them to a war zone that they may not come home from. This is all so sad, and nothing is ever done about it except for thoughts and prayers from those at home cleaning their assault rifles.
I’m normally not a political person on social media, but this hit too close to home. I hope these kids can heal from this unthinkable tragedy.”
With the shooting near Followill’s young son, the rocker couldn’t help but tweet his worries and rage against the pro-gun advocates. Although he usually didn’t like being political on social platforms, Nathan felt that he needed to utter a few words about the recent tragedy and hope that the survivors will quickly heal from the trauma.
A school shooting just happened near my sons school. Multiple children dead but let’s make sure that the gunman had his 2nd Amendment rights. Fuck you Bill Lee and fuck the NRA.
