The Guitarist Was Ready For A Reunion

Back in November, during an interview at the Breeders’ Cup in California, Sambora mentioned he and the band were in talks about a possible return. Noting the influence of Bon Jovi’s music in changing the listeners’ lives, the guitarist talked about a reunion to People:

“So yeah, it definitely could happen. It’s just a question of when everybody’s ready to go do it. It will be a big, massive kind of undertaking.”

About when the comeback could happen, he said:

“I’m not sure. It’s up to peoples; it’s got to be right. That’s all. It’s time to do it, though. This is our 40th anniversary, but I feel younger than ever. I’m having a ball.”

His Run With The Band And Departure

Sambora left Bon Jovi during the ‘Because We Can’ tour 11 years ago and hasn’t done a full show with them since. But he did play with the band at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April 2018 in Cleveland, which was his first time back in five years.

While away from Bon Jovi, the guitarist worked on new music with his girlfriend, Orianthi, and released a couple of EPs, ‘Rise’ and ‘Making History,’ and an album, ‘Radio Free America,’ in May 2018.

Meanwhile, Bon Jovi kept making music without Sambora. They’ve released three albums, the latest being ‘2020,’ which came out in May 2020. They also released a new holiday single, ‘Christmas Isn’t Christmas,’ in November 2023, teasing their upcoming album set for 2024.
