Former Mötley Crüe frontman John Corabi has parted ways with The Dead Daisies following his latest three-year stint with the band. The group confirmed the split in an official statement. The departure comes in the wake of Corabi’s recent public comments about the band’s direction and their shows featuring previous frontman Glenn Hughes.

The Dead Daisies addressed the split with a brief official statement, expressing gratitude for Corabi’s time with the group.

“It has come to our attention that John Corabi has decided to leave The Dead Daisies,” the band said. “We’d like to sincerely thank John for his incredible contribution to the band over the years and wish him nothing but success with his solo career and all his future endeavors.”

Corabi had previously spoken openly about his confusion regarding the band’s plans. He revealed that both he and bassist Michael Devin were left uncertain about their standing within the group.

“To be quite honest with you, I don’t know what is going on with that band right now,” Corabi said. “Michael [Devin, The Dead Daisies bassist] and I are just kind of sitting here scratching our heads, because… Last year when I told [The Dead Daisies management] I got this record deal, I told them, ‘Hey, I signed a deal with Frontiers. I’m gonna do a solo album.'”

“And they were, like, ‘Okay, cool.’ And then later, the manager was, like, ‘You know what? Actually, we’re gonna take a year off. David’s [Lowy, The Dead Daisies founder and rhythm guitarist] gonna go hang with his dad. So knock yourself out. You got a whole year to finish your record and go promote it.’ And then we’re on tour, and then all of a sudden it’s like they’re doing a show with [previous The Dead Daisies frontman] Glenn Hughes, who I adore, so don’t read anything into that. I love Glenn Hughes.”

Corabi went on to describe the added frustration of the band releasing a live record in close proximity to his own solo release.

“But it’s, like, then they release a [live] record that it was from a show that we did on the last tour. They released the record, like, one week after mine, and I’m, like, ‘I don’t even know what’s going on right now,'” he continued. “So Michael and I are, like, ‘Are we still employed by The Daisies or…?’ I don’t even know what’s going on.”

Corabi released his latest solo album, New Day, in April via Frontiers Music Srl. No further announcements regarding The Dead Daisies’ lineup have been made at this time.

The circumstances surrounding Corabi’s exit reflect a broader period of transition for The Dead Daisies. The band quietly shifted direction while key members were left in the dark. The situation has now come to a head, with the lineup in flux and the search for a permanent frontman officially underway.

This marks Corabi’s second departure from The Dead Daisies. His second stint with the band began in May 2023, when he returned following Glenn Hughes’ exit from the group. During that period, Corabi became a central figure in the band’s touring and recording activities, contributing to what many considered a stable and productive chapter for the rock outfit.

The Glenn Hughes reunion that contributed to the tension was no minor footnote. On May 30, 2026, The Dead Daisies performed a one-off show with Hughes at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois, under the banner “The Purple Daisies.” The concert featured Hughes alongside guitarist Doug Aldrich, drummer Tommy Clufetos, and founder David Lowy. The overwhelming response to the show led to a second Purple Daisies date being announced for October 2, 2026, at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California. Hughes made clear that his involvement was not intended to be a permanent arrangement, stating that “it was never going to be forever for me.”

With Corabi’s departure now confirmed, The Dead Daisies have turned to temporary measures to keep their schedule intact. Oscar Rilo of Dark Embrace has stepped in as a fill-in vocalist for upcoming shows while the band conducts its search for a long-term replacement. The band has indicated it does not intend to cancel any planned performances during the transition period.

The live album that added to Corabi’s frustration, Live Plus Five, was drawn from recordings made during the band’s most recent tour with him at the helm. It was released just one week after New Day hit shelves, underscoring the communication breakdown that ultimately led to his exit. As the band moves forward without him, the question of who will permanently take the microphone for The Dead Daisies remains unanswered.
