Joe Bonamassa recently weighed in on the controversy surrounding Chappell Roan’s security team and their handling of a young fan encounter. He shared his perspective on X (formerly Twitter)
The blues guitarist’s statement came in response to reports about an incident involving soccer star Jorginho’s 11-year-old daughter. She was allegedly left in tears after an encounter with Chappell Roan’s security during a breakfast meeting.
“Here is my take. Security is as aggressive or non aggressive as mandated by the ‘client,'” Bonamassa said. “End of conversation.”
The comment directly places responsibility on Chappell Roan herself. It suggests that security personnel act according to the instructions given by the celebrity they are protecting. This adds another voice to the ongoing discussion about the incident that has drawn attention across social media platforms.
Bonamassa’s reaction follows a highly publicized incident that occurred during the Lollapalooza Brazil weekend. Tensions between celebrity security and fan interactions reached a boiling point during this event.
TMZ reported that Brazilian soccer star Jorginho accused a member of Chappell Roan’s security team of aggressively berating his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada Law, during a breakfast encounter at their hotel. The incident occurred when the young fan, who admires Roan’s music, simply looked at the singer while passing her breakfast table. Jorginho claimed the security guard swiftly reprimanded his daughter in an aggressive manner. This left her in tears and led to threats to complain to hotel staff about the family.
The situation escalated when Chappell Roan issued a public apology via Instagram Story on March 22, 2026. In her video response, Roan stated she never saw the child or mother. She said no one approached or bothered her. Crucially, she claimed the accused individual was not part of her personal security team nor acting on her instructions. She offered a direct apology to the family involved.
“I’m sorry to the mother and child that someone was assuming something, that you would do something, and that if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that,” Roan said in her Instagram Story.
However, the controversy deepened when Ada Law’s mother, Catherine Harding (also known as Cat Cavelli), publicly disputed Roan’s claims. TMZ noted that Cavelli called “BS” on Roan’s assertion that the security guard was not part of her team. This further escalated the dispute. Ada Law is the daughter of Jorginho’s wife Catherine Harding from her previous relationship with actor Jude Law. This adds another layer of public interest to the story.
The incident highlights the ongoing tensions between artist protection and fan interactions at major music events, particularly when young fans are involved. While no further details about resolutions or hotel involvement have been reported, the controversy continues to generate discussion about appropriate security protocols and celebrity responsibility for their team’s actions.
