Jeff Scott Soto has voiced his support for Van Halen receiving a farewell concert celebration similar to Black Sabbath’s final tour. He shared his thoughts on Instagram.

The vocalist responded to a Van Halen News Desk headline suggesting the band deserves a “Back to the Beginning” concert celebration. Soto expressed his agreement with the concept. He also acknowledged the practical challenges such an event would face.

“I found this too important not to share,” Soto wrote. “I think They do…”

He continued by addressing the obstacles that would make such a celebration difficult to organize.

“However… no Eddie,” Soto noted. “Alex is done playing. Not sure Wolf & Sammy would share a stage. But otherwise, let’s do it.”

The comment references the band’s current situation following Eddie Van Halen’s passing and Alex Van Halen’s retirement from performing.

Soto’s call for a Van Halen celebration comes at a time when the band’s legacy continues to evolve amid various developments within the rock community.

AXS TV reported that former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth is making a notable return to live music in 2025 after more than five years away from the stage. The legendary vocalist has scheduled performances including the M3 Rock Festival and a concert at The Mountain Winery in California. This signals his ongoing engagement with fans despite the band’s current challenges.

Meanwhile, Van Halen News Desk confirmed that Sammy Hagar and Wolfgang Van Halen are set to join the lineup for Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming ‘Back to the Beginning’ final performance. This all-star event reunites notable rock figures. It highlights the collaborative spirit within the music community that Soto references in his support for a similar Van Halen celebration.

The timing of these developments underscores the complex dynamics Soto mentioned in his post. Individual members remain active in the music scene. However, the prospect of a unified Van Halen farewell remains complicated by the practical obstacles he outlined.

The discussion around a potential Van Halen celebration reflects the broader trend of legendary rock bands organizing farewell tours to honor their legacies. This follows the Black Sabbath model that inspired the original headline Soto shared.
