Jason Bonham On Losing His Father John Bonham At A Young Age

When Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham passed away, every fan of the band mourned the death of an icon. Still, his family suffered the most, particularly his son, Jason Bonham. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a drummer himself, but he recently touched upon another characteristic he now has in common with his father; being a parent.

“1993 changed my life forever,” admitted John while celebrating his daughter’s wedding with a beautiful photo featuring the groom and bride on his Instagram account. He later opened up about being a parent after losing his father at a young age. According to the musician, he wasn’t sure how to guide his daughter but managed to let his love do the work.

Bonham continued, “I became a father, and after losing mine so young, I didn’t know to be one other than to love her with everything I am, help her in every way I can and support her on her new adventure with her husband, Nic. To quote my daughter’s beautiful vows, ‘It was you, always been you, and will forever be you.’”

In another IG post, the drummer shared his daughter’s wedding preparations and praised the couple’s vows by saying, “Their vows were like something out of a movie so well written beautifully said so much emotion but still at the same time. Sending a positive message to both families that were there of love and togetherness.”

While Jason Bonham celebrated a special day for his family, he also recalled the loss of his father. The musician passed away on September 25, 1980, after a day of heavy drinking. Bonham was only 32 years old at the time and left his 14-year-old boy behind. Fortunately for Jason, he managed to find his way as a parent, regardless of losing his father at a young age.
