Jack White took to Instagram to wish his ‘big sister’ Meg White a happy 50th birthday.

“HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY to my big sister, the great Meg White,” the singer wrote in the caption. “There’s only one of you Meggo, they broke the mold. You’re still inspiring people, including me. Love you so much. -Jack III.”

In his post, Jack posted a Polaroid-style photo of Meg, where she stands in front of a red wall wearing a black-and-white leopard print top, matching the White Stripes’ colors.

Jack and Meg formed the White Stripes in 1997 and released six albums before splitting in 2011. They told the public they were siblings, but in 2001, it was revealed they had married in 1996 and divorced in 2000.

They had many hits, including ‘Seven Nation Army’ from their 2003 album ‘Elephant.’ The song topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, was nominated for a Grammy, and became a sports anthem thanks to its famous riff.

Over the years, Jack has stayed supportive of Meg. In March 2023, he posted a poem defending his ex-wife after political journalist Lachlan Markay wrote a tweet, which was later deleted. The post said, “The tragedy of the White Stripes is how great they would’ve been with a half decent drummer… I’m sorry Meg White was terrible and no band is better for having a sh—y drummer.”

In response, Karen Elson, 44, who was once married to Jack, like Meg, also stepped in to defend her. She wrote on X, “Not only is Meg White a fantastic drummer, Jack [White] also said the White Stripes would be nothing without her. To the journalist who dissed her, keep my ex husband’s ex wife name out of your f—ing mouth. (Please and Thank You).”

After The White Stripes broke up in 2011, Meg stepped away from the public eye and moved to Detroit. Jack, on the other hand, kept going and recently finished his 2024 Australian tour.
