“They basically were just saying like you’ve got so many things going on,” Jack Osbourne said. “We recommend you don’t do this because the energy expenditure.”

Medical problems had affected Ozzy before the performance. “There was like something with his heart and he had some like artery stuff going on,” Jack continued. “He suffered a ton of medical kind of mishaps leading up to the show. They were just like energetically, this is going to… this is not good. This is not good. Like, you don’t have it in you.”

Despite these warnings, Ozzy chose to perform. “He said, ‘I’m doing it.’ He wanted his journey,” Jack said. “And so, I can’t… I’m not angry at that. I think everyone wants to at least have some say in how they go. Obviously, deeply heartbroken that he’s gone but also he went the way he wanted to.”

Jack made these remarks while discussing his father’s final days before his death.

Ozzy had dealt with serious health challenges for years. In February 2019, he received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, and he broke his back in a fall that same year. By 2025, the disease had left him unable to walk.

The Black Sabbath reunion show on July 5, 2025, was billed as Ozzy’s final performance due to his declining health. The concert took place at Villa Park in Birmingham and drew 45,000 people. The event was organized by his wife Sharon Osbourne and guitarist Tom Morello, with all profits donated to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Ozzy died on July 22, 2025, at age 76. According to his death certificate, he suffered a heart attack, with Parkinson’s disease and coronary artery disease listed as contributing factors. Jack’s comments reveal that Ozzy’s medical team had warned him the energy required for the performance could be dangerous, but he chose to go ahead because he wanted agency over his own path.
