Jack Black Confirms New Tenacious D Concept Album Is On The Way

Tenacious D’s Jack Black recently joined the SmartLess for an interview and excited their fans by admitting they are working on a new concept album.

As well as having many contributions in his music catalog, Jack Black is primarily known for being the lead singer and guitarist of the famous comedy rock band Tenacious D along with Kyle Gass. They have released four albums throughout their music career, the latest being 2018’s ‘Post-Apocalypto.’

The band’s fourth album, ‘Post Apocalypto,’ was released on November 2, 2018. In addition to Jack Black and Kyle Gass, the album also featured John Konesky, Spiker, and Dave Grohl. Moreover, they released an animatic YouTube series named ‘Tenacious D In Post-Apocalypto’ to support the album.

After releasing ‘Post Apocalypto,’ Tenacious D didn’t release any new material. Instead, all the band members worked on individual projects. Kyle Grass decided to go on his first solo tour in 2021, which he later canceled. On the other hand, Jack Black worked as a guest artist with many musicians.

Apart from the covers of ‘Time Warp,’ the Beatles’ ‘You Never Give Me Your Money,’ and ‘The End,’ Tenacious D didn’t make any album release for years. However, in a recent interview with the SmartLess podcast, Jack Black revealed that he is touring with Kyle Gass, and they have a massive project on the way: a new concept album.

Here is what Jack Black told the SmartLess podcast:

“I am playing music with Kyle Gass. We’re still touring, and we got a very big project coming up that I can’t really tell you anything about.”

He then added:

“We got a concept album coming down the pike.”

So, it appears the fans will have a chance to listen to a new Tenacious D album after all those years. Although Jack Black excited them with his announcement, the album’s possible release date is unknown.
