Trunk addressed the confusion around the band’s return, which has led many fans to believe these shows mark the end of Aerosmith. Comedian Bill Burr introduced the October 29 concert by calling it the “final two shows in Aerosmith’s history,” adding to the speculation.

“Seems to be a lot of confusion about these Aerosmith tribute shows,” Trunk said. “Nobody has ever said to my knowledge and it’s not billed anywhere as ‘final’ or ‘farewell’ shows. There very well could be more.”

He outlined what fans can expect from the performances. “You gotta think if there was a farewell final show it will be in Boston,” Trunk continued. “Also the band are not playing a full set. I hear 6 songs at the end. The rest are tribute sets. Joey Kramer expected to play 1 song with them. Regardless great to have the band back in some capacity. Americas Greatest Rock & Roll Band indeed!”

Some fans shared their own views in response. One wrote, “Probably last 2 shows of the original band members. Can’t see Joey playing with them again given his health issues.”

Another fan who attended one of the shows offered a different perspective on the event. “I was there last night, I didn’t feel like a farewell more like a celebration,” they said.

Trunk’s comments came as the Hollywood Bowl shows generated debate over whether they represent Aerosmith’s final performances.

Steven Tyler fractured his larynx at a show in September 2023, forcing Aerosmith to cancel their “Peace Out” farewell tour. In August 2024, the band decided to retire from touring after determining that Tyler’s recovery from the vocal cord injury would not be possible.

The October 29 show at the Hollywood Bowl marked Aerosmith’s return to the stage for the first time in more than three years. The band was billed as “Aerosmith & Friends” and performed with guest musicians including The Black Crowes, RUN DMC, Heart, Billy Idol, Sammy Hagar, Slash, and members of Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Godsmack, and Train.

Drummer Joey Kramer appeared with the group for the first time since February 2020. Kramer had been recovering from a shoulder injury, an ankle injury, and triple-bypass heart surgery. During Aerosmith’s six-song set, Dave Grohl played drums for the first five songs, with Kramer joining on “Walk This Way” alongside drummer John Douglas.
