Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith has lost his Malibu home to the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Smith’s wife, Nathalie Dufresne-Smith, shared the news. Earlier this week, Dufresne went live on Instagram to document the evacuation of their property. “The fire is right here, the fire marshals are telling us to get out,” she said. On January 11, she shared another post confirming the loss of their home. “We are safe. We have each other. We will start again. Thank you for your support during these trying times.”

Smith is not alone in this loss. The fires have affected several other musicians and industry professionals. Primus guitarist Larry LaLonde was one of those names. “As the losses in this fire trickle into my brain, it feels like being hit with a bag of rocks over and over, but the people around us make me feel like the luckiest mother f*cker on the planet to have these people in my life. I don’t know how we could mentally survive this without the support of some amazing friends. Unfortunately this is a situation almost everyone in this town is in. Many unknowns here for now,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Scott Ian also shared, “Sending all our love to the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Over and over you risk your lives to save ours and I can’t thank you enough. Tonight is going to be a hellish night for so many. Stay safe my friends, that’s all that matters. Thank you to everyone that has been reaching out – Pearl, Revel, Grizzly and I evacuated and we’re safe.”

The wildfires in Southern California began on January 7 in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood and quickly spread across the city. By January 12, the fires had taken 16 lives, destroyed over 12,000 buildings, and forced more than 180,000 residents to evacuate.
