Hollywood Vampires’ Johnny Depp Settles ‘Assault’ Lawsuit

Hollywood Vampires guitarist Johnny Depp has settled his lawsuit stemming from an alleged assault of a ‘City of Lies’ crew member who blamed the actor for punching him.

The crime thriller film ‘City of Lies,’ featuring Johnny Depp as retired LAPD detective Russell Poole investigating the deaths of rappers Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G., first premiered in Italy on December 8, 2018. However, the film kept the agenda busy with other issues rather than its success. The movie’s location manager, Greg ‘Rocky’ Brooks, who worked on set with Depp, filed a lawsuit against the actor in July 2018.

Brooks claimed that Johnny Depp punched him twice on the left side of his rib cage and verbally insulted him while under the influence of alcohol on the set of the film. According to Brooks’ statements, the alleged assault occurred in April 2017 when he told the actor they had one more scene to shoot. Then, Depp said he had no right to tell him what to do and allegedly assaulted him after screaming.

Johnny Depp and Greg Brooks finally settled the lawsuit last Monday, weeks before they were set to go to trial in Los Angeles on July 25. It was reported that a deal had been set over between the two sides, and Depp is required to follow through with unexpressed terms of the settlement by the end of August. The case will not be dismissed if Johnny Depp doesn’t complete the terms. Thus, the plaintiff will have the chance to reopen the lawsuit.
