Some good news is coming for Rush fans.

Geddy Lee seems to be open for a Rush reunion with his former bandmate Alex Lifeson. After deciding to end the band with the passing away of their late drummer Neil Peart in 2020, the band only came together for two particular shows. Recently speaking to The Washington Post about a reunion, Lee gave the green light and said:

“It had been a taboo subject, and playing those songs again with a third person was the elephant in the room, and that kind of disappeared. It was nice to know that if we decide to go out, Alex and I, whether we went out as part of a new thing, or whether we just wanted to go out and play Rush as Rush, we could do that now.”

Where Rush Reunited After Peart’s Passing

The two surviving members did have a reunion when Dave Grohl invited them to play together for the Taylor Hawkins reunion. During the tribute shows, the duo played Rush songs alongside Tool’s Danny Carey, Omar Hakim, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, and Grohl himself.

According to The Washington Post, Lee had enjoyed playing Rush songs with his old bandmate again in addition to hanging out with other artists at the events and stated that Paul McCartney praised Lee and Lifeson and encouraged them to reconsider touring during the London after-party.

Lifeson and Lee Appeared In Public Together For the First Time Since 2015

Other than their appearance on the tribute shows, the duo gave a show in August 2022 to perform the 1977 track ‘Closer to the Heart’ at two special concerts commemorating the 25th anniversary of the animated series South Park at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver. A month after their reunion, the two got together to jam at Lee’s house for the first time in several years. Although Lee had mixed feelings about a reunion, this year, it appears that he changed his mind.

There are no further details about the reunion yet.
