Gary Holt Shares Tom Hunting’s New Video Talking About His Cancer Treatment

In a new Instagram post, Exodus’ Gary Holt has posted a video of Tom Hunting in which he is seen revealing details about his ongoing cancer treatment.

As you may recall, Exodus drummer Tom Hunting has revealed that he has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a type of stomach cancer back in April 2021. Upon hearing the tragic news, his bandmate and friend Gary Holt has launched a GoFundMe to support him financially during his battle. The campaign reached beyond its $50,000 goal, almost doubled it as it currently raised $98,000. After seeing the huge financial and emotional support, Hunting said he is ready for the battle.

During the pandemic, Tom and the other Exodus members were waiting for the restrictions to end like other musicians. It is known that Exodus started to record a new album in September 2020, and Gary Holt announced on Instagram in June 2021 that the name of the new record will be ‘Persona Non Grata.’

Unfortunately, after Hunting has been diagnosed with cancer, the release of the album has been delayed to November 2021, which would also coincide with their Fall 2021 tour. As their new project is delayed, Tom Hunting needed this financial support to fight against his cancer without worrying about the medical bills.

Recently on Instagram, Gary Holt has shared a video of Tom Hunting where he talks about the current state of his cancer treatment saying he will get a full gastrectomy procedure as the next step of his battle. Holt has also stated in his post that Tom is about to embark on a journey for a cancer-free life, saying they are with him a hundred percent, and the support he has received up to this day is not unnoticed. Gary then revealed the operation will take four to five hours, but he is going to get cancer out of Tom and recover, joining the band playing the drums again.

Gary Holt’s Instagram post read:

“Message from Tom, who’s about to embark on a journey to rid himself of his cancer once and for all. We are all with him 100 percent, and the love and support he’s received have not gone unnoticed. Gonna be a four to five hour operation but he’s gonna get that cancer out of him, then recover and be back behind the drums. We love you, Tom, you got this!”

The fundraiser is still going on and those who would like to make a donation to help Hunting with his medical expenses can check out the fundraiser page.
