Taylor Hawkins died on March 25, 2022, in Bogotá, Colombia, at the age of 50. He passed away while the band was preparing for a performance at the Estéreo Picnic Festival. Colombian authorities’ toxicology report revealed his death was attributed to a combination of substances found in his system, including opioids and other drugs.
Foo Fighters immediately canceled their remaining tour dates and festival appearances out of respect for their fallen bandmate. The band’s response demonstrated the deep bond they shared with Hawkins, who had been their drummer for over 25 years after joining in 1997.
