According to Hellfest founder Ben Barbaud, Foo Fighters have canceled their 2025 summer tour. Barbaud shared this information during an interview with Le Parisien, explaining that Muse will replace Foo Fighters as one of the four headliners at Hellfest. He mentioned that he was offered Muse as a replacement after Foo Fighters canceled their summer tour.

“They were offered to me on a platter,” said Barbaud. “A month ago, I was offered to program them with a handful of other European festivals. Foo Fighters having canceled their summer tour, Muse was called in as reinforcements. I accepted because I was missing a headliner on Friday and because the Hellfest audience is more and more open. With age, I too have matured, I am less sectarian.”

He added: “I created this festival for the love of punk, hardcore, and at the beginning for the purists. But today, I prefer to shock them than to always do the same artists.”

Foo Fighters completed their 2024 North American tour on August 18 in Seattle, Washington. Shortly after, in early September, frontman Dave Grohl shared a personal update on his Instagram, revealing that he had fathered a child outside of his marriage and was working to rebuild trust with his family.

Grohl said in his statement: “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

After the news, the band canceled their performance at this Soundside Music Festival.

Foo Fighters’ official website currently lists no tour dates, and the canceled 2025 tour was never publicly announced. Therefore, the cancellation comes with little fanfare, as no specific plans had been set. More details will be provided as the situation unfolds.
