Fans expressed their disappointment in the comments section about the lack of communication regarding Freese’s situation. “How about having the decency to explain to Josh why! I was such a huge fan of you guys but lately your behaviour is just so disappointing,” one fan commented.

Another fan shared similar concerns: “Josh really deserved more than you gave him. A simple, honest conversation about your obvious plans would have been enough. Such a lack of respect to an icon in the industry. I may only be a fan, but you have lost so much respect from me.”

One fan broadened the criticism beyond the Freese situation: “Foo Fighters have fell off ever since Dave announced his unfaithfulness to his wife, then to fire Josh, Foo Fighters is finished.”

The band has remained silent about these comments. They have not provided any details about Freese’s departure.

These fan reactions emerged following recent developments in Freese’s unexpected exit from the band.

Loudwire revealed that Foo Fighters informed Freese of their decision on May 12, 2025. The band told him they wanted to pursue a different direction with their drummer.

A band representative confirmed the departure to The Los Angeles Times. No additional details about the decision were provided. The band has scheduled a performance in Singapore for October 4, 2025. They have not yet announced a new drummer.

MyRadioLink reported on Freese’s professional response to the situation. He maintained a positive attitude despite expressing shock and disappointment.

“I enjoyed my time with the band and support their decision,” Freese stated on Instagram. He noted this was his first dismissal from a band in his 40-year career. He assured fans of his well-being, mentioning his ongoing freelance work.
