A Slipknot fan recently shared early details about the band’s upcoming album “Look Outside Your Window,” revealing new information about the project including Cristina Scabbia’s vocal contributions. The details were shared in a post on Reddit.

The fan managed to obtain a Record Store Day copy of the album ahead of its official release. They provided insights into the musical content and style.

“Just got my RSD copy of ‘Look Outside Your Window.’ I am really surprised, the songs are better than I thought! If you have some questions, I’ll try to answer them,” the fan wrote.

The Reddit user went on to describe specific details about the album’s tracks and overall sound.

“Some notes: Christina is more like a monologue, by her. She also sing on Is Real, which is a really good song! Is Real could easily be on .5 The Gray Chapter. Moth have a small section at the end with screams. I forgot about that section the first time. Some songs have solo on them! And they sounds good,” they continued.

The fan also characterized the album’s overall musical direction compared to Slipknot’s typical style.

“Not very electronic. Hard to name a band with the same sound, but the vibe is definitely Slipknot except no screams, no double bass drum,” they noted.

The early review provides fans with their first detailed look at the long-awaited project. The project has a complex history spanning nearly two decades.

Rough Trade reported that “Look Outside Your Window” is not technically a lost Slipknot album but rather a side project featuring Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn “Clown” Crahan. The project originated during the 2008 recording sessions for Slipknot’s “All Hope Is Gone” album, when these four members experimented with a different musical direction.

The album’s sound represents a significant departure from Slipknot’s typical heavy metal approach. Metal Injection noted that the experimental rock sound has been compared to Radiohead, showcasing a more atmospheric and alternative approach than fans might expect from the Iowa metal legends.

The Record Store Day release represents a highly limited opportunity for collectors and fans. Loudwire revealed that only 2,300 copies of “Look Outside Your Window” will be available on vinyl for Record Store Day on April 18, making it an extremely rare find for those who manage to secure a copy.

The project’s long journey to release has made it something of a mythical album among Slipknot fans. They have waited nearly 18 years to hear these experimental recordings that showcase a different side of some of the band’s core members.
