Former Trivium drummer Alex Bent recently revealed his dream bands to tour with. He shared his thoughts in an interview with The Metal Mixtape.

When asked about which band he would choose to be the drummer for on a world tour, Bent found himself torn between two legendary metal acts.

The question posed was: “If you could be the drummer and do a world tour with any band, dead or alive, what is that one band?”

“Oh, man. One band dead or alive? Oh goodness, that’s a hard question,” Bent responded. “It would be a tossup between I’d want to play with either Pantera or Slipknot.”

Bent’s choices reflect his extensive background in extreme metal. He built his reputation through various influential bands before joining Trivium.

The Moshville Times reported that Bent joined Trivium in December 2016 after parting ways with Battlecross and Decrepit Birth. His career trajectory began with Brain Drill, Arkaik, and Alterbeast. He established himself as a versatile drummer in the extreme metal scene.

The drummer’s path to prominence started through online videos and competitions. The Moshville Times noted that these early efforts led to significant opportunities, including opening for Cannibal Corpse in 2012. This marked a crucial turning point in his career.

Before settling with Trivium, Bent also filled in for Gene Hoglan with Testament in 2016. Blabbermouth documented this experience with the thrash metal legends. It further solidified his reputation as a reliable and skilled drummer capable of handling complex metal compositions.

His nine-year tenure with Trivium came to an end in October 2025, when he announced his departure from the band. Blabbermouth revealed that Bent expressed gratitude for his time with the band while indicating his desire to return to touring and continue his musical journey.

The former Trivium drummer’s choices of Pantera and Slipknot showcase his appreciation for both groove metal pioneers and modern metal innovators. They reflect the diverse influences that shaped his drumming style throughout his career.
