Former Skid Row singer Erik Grönwall stuck to his ‘F—k You’ mindset in a recent Instagram post.

“‘So, Mr. Erik Grönwall, was 2024 a successful year?’ – ‘Define success,'” the rocker wrote. “‘Did you live according to your values?’ – ‘I did. I kept my ‘f*ck you perspective’ on things most of the time.'”

He added, “‘Did you prioritize your health?’ – ‘Yes. I made some tough but necessary decisions for my well-being,'” Grönwall said, referring to his exit from Skid Row. “‘Did you wake up most days doing something you love?’ – ‘Absolutely. Singing has been part of my daily life.'”

“‘Did you treat people with respect?’ – ‘Yes, to those who earned it.’ –  ‘Did you stay optimistic?’ – ‘I sure did. Perspective is the key to happiness.’ – ‘Were you there for your family and friends?’ – ‘Yes, I made time for the people who matter,'” the musician further shared.

Erik continued, “‘Were you loyal to those you care about?’ – ‘Without a doubt.’ – ‘Did you manage to silence your ego when necessary?’ – ‘I’d like to think so. It’s a work in progress.’ – ‘Well then, Mr. Grönwall, it sounds like 2024 was a successful year.’ – ‘You know what? I agree.'”

“Success is about figuring out what your values are and living and dying by those values. You know who you are and what you want, don’t let anyone ever take that away from you. Happy New Year! Thanks for doing this journey with me,” he ended the post with this message.

The most important development in Grönwall’s career in 2024 was his departure from Skid Row. On March 27, 2024, after finishing the delayed shows in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Skid Row announced they had split with Grönwall due to health issues. Lzzy Hale replaced him for the following shows.

“Yes, I have decided to leave Skid Row. The main reason being that it’s proved difficult to prioritize my health and full recovery as the lead singer of the band. In 2021, I was undergoing treatment against leukemia, and that gave me a superpower called perspective,” Erik said in a statement at the time.

He also noted, “I love Skid Row. I have nothing but respect for the guys in the band, but I love and respect my health more. I understand that Skid Row is a touring band, but like I told the guys: ‘If I can’t prioritize my health, then I’m not the right guy for the job.'”

Erik later announced in September that he would join Michael Schenker on his spring 2025 European tour. The ‘My Years With UFO’ tour will visit several European countries, starting on April 9, 2025, in the Netherlands.
