Ex-Devil Wears Prada Drummer Daniel Williams Dies In Plane Crash

A plane crash in San Diego has claimed the lives of former Devil Wears Prada drummer Daniel Williams and Sound Talent Group co-founder Dave Shapiro. CBS 8 confirmed the incident.

The tragic incident took place in the Tierrasanta neighborhood of San Diego. At least two fatalities were reported, prompting Sound Talent Group to release an official statement.

‘We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends,’ a spokesperson for Sound Talent Group told Billboard. ‘Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.’

The Devil Wears Prada expressed their grief on social media.

‘No words. We owe you everything. Love you forever,’ the band wrote.

The music industry has been deeply affected by this tragedy. New details continue to emerge about the crash and its victims.

News.com.au reported the crash occurred around 4 a.m. local time on May 22, 2025. The aircraft crashed into a residential area, setting several homes ablaze.

The Independent revealed the flight departed from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey at approximately 11:15 p.m. the previous night. Before the accident, Williams shared three Instagram stories. His final post showed him in the cockpit with the caption ‘Here we gooooo.’

Entertainment Weekly highlighted Williams’ significant impact on the metalcore scene. He performed with The Devil Wears Prada until 2016.

Shapiro piloted the aircraft and owned it. The crash injured eight additional people. Some required hospitalization, while others received treatment at the scene and were released.

Local authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
