Ed Sheeran Admits He Was A Death Metal And Slipknot Fan As A Kid

In his recent interview with The Sun, Ed Sheeran opened up about producing and releasing a death metal album and discovering new genres. He also shared that he listened to death metal a lot when he was a kid while he was unveiling his favorite metal bands.

Ed Sheeran released his latest single ‘Bad Habits’ and its official music video which is the lead single of his upcoming fifth studio album on June 25, 2021. Both the song and vampire-themed clip of the song received very positive reviews from critics and fans. The clip was viewed by more than 60 sixty million people on Youtube in a very short time.

During the recent interview, Ed Sheeran reflected his interest in working on different genres such as rock, dance, rap, reggae, and death metal even though he has been pursuing a longtime and successful career as a pop musician. He revealed that he was a fan of death metal when he was a little kid so he was very close to the idea of releasing a metal album.

Ed Sheeran stated that there will be always a possibility of his producing and releasing a death metal album. He also talked about his favorite bands which were Cradle of Filth and Slipknot. Apparently, Ed was so interested in metal music that he learned the guitar riffs to able to play and write songs like his favorite bands.

Sheeran talked about metal music and favorite bands saying:

“I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff. I’m not saying I could ever step into that world. I learned all those riffs on guitar as a kid. That’s something I’ve never thought about doing – but something I would not be opposed to creating.

The fans of Ed Sheeran can expect a death metal album from the pop singer in the near future because he revealed that he loves the idea of creating metal music thanks to being a fan of death metal and learning all the riffs when he was a little boy.
