Def Leppard’s Vivian Campbell Says He Doesn’t Have A Connection To Guns N’ Roses
Def Leppard’s guitarist Vivian Campbell recently spoke to the Appetite for Distortion YouTube channel and was asked if he had any connection to the Guns N’ Roses members. He stated that he is not familiar with any of them in person, although he met two of the members.
After Def Leppard’s guitarist Steve Clark passed away in 1981, Campbell joined the band as his replacement. Before rising to prominence with Def Leppard, Vivian Campbell worked with many iconic names in the rock and roll industry, such as Ronnie James Dio and Thin Lizzy. He is still present in the band and is getting ready for the Stadium Tour along with Mötley Crüe, Poison, and Joan Jett, which will commence in June.
The guitarist was also in the L.A. scene with the rock and roll party bands but wasn’t involved in this lifestyle. Hence, despite working with many iconic names and being in a famous band, he recently revealed that he isn’t familiar with one of the most known groups from Los Angeles, California.
When asked about Guns N’ Roses during a recent interview, the Def Leppard guitarist said he has no connection to any of them, even though GN’R is one of the most known and recognized rock bands in history. He revealed that he had met Slash and Duff McKagan once and thinks they are nice but have no stories to tell.
When asked about his connection to GN’R, Campbell said:
“I actually don’t, really. I’ve met Slash a few times, and I met Duff, a super nice guy. But I don’t really. No, I’m sorry, I don’t. But I don’t live in L.A. anymore. I lived in New Hampshire last several years, but even before then, when I was living in L.A., I didn’t get out much, to be honest. So I never met a lot of celebrities.”
